What is a functional movement screen?

A Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a series of 7 exercises that our Exercise Specialist will run you through that evaluates movement patterns the body is put through everyday such as a Squat, Hurdle Step, Lunge, Active Straight Leg Raise, Push up, Shoulder Test and Core stabilization exercise.

How does FMS work?

Based on your results through the screening we will be able to find muscle imbalances in your body’s natural moving pattern. From here we can find methods to help correct these muscular dysfunctions.

What results can I expect from FMS?

You can expect to be evaluated and given a written exercises/stretching program that will help you improve muscular imbalances that were evaluated during the initial screen. There will also be a midterm and final evaluation to evaluate the progress being made throughout the program. This will allow you to see the progress you’ve made but will also show the Exercise Specialist what else needs more work


What can FMS treat?

Functional Movement Screens are great for any athlete who is looking to gain more flexibility/strength while reducing the risk of injury. Depending on the results of your evaluation, a custom program will help improve the areas of muscular function and strength as addressed with our team.

Will FMS cure my chronic pain?

While Functional Movement Screens will not cure pain totally, it can make a huge improvement in overall function and symptom relief, and can be used alongside other treatments.
